Research

Even the most persistent do-it-yourselfers sometimes find they could use a little help. I’m especially lucky to be located in the heart of an especially rich area for historical archives—in fact, just blocks away from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Library Company of Philadelphia, two national treasures for historical and genealogical research.

How it works

Every project begins with a free, 30-minute consultation over phone or video. During the consultation, you share with me your goals, and after, I provide you with a written proposal and estimate.

Research is billed at $100/hour with packages at reduced rates:

Sign displaying "10 HOURS" and "$900" with decorative lines.
A sign displaying a price of $1,600 for 20 hours of service or work.
A vintage-style sign displaying '30 HOURS' at the top and '$2,100' at the bottom, with decorative lines and geometric design in the center.

(10-hour rate applies to 10-19 hours; 20-hour rate to 20-29 hours; 30-hour rate to 30 hours or more.)

What’s included

Every research project entitles you to an electronically delivered report of findings that includes images of any relevant documents, such as census reports, military records, and the like.

I’m located in central Philadelphia, but can also travel within the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. metro area, excluding cost of my personal travel from my home base to my “second home” in Maryland.
